Human Resources Manager

Human Resources Manager – National Radioactive Waste Disposal Institute (NRWDI)

National Radioactive Waste Disposal Institute (NRWDI)

Location: 7 New Road, Glen Austin AH, Midrand | Division: Corporate Services | Type: Permanent | Reports to: Executive Manager: Corporate Services

NRWDI is hiring an HR Manager to run the full HR function at their Midrand head office. This isn’t a policy advisory role sitting above operations. You’d be in it daily, managing recruitment, labour relations, payroll oversight, skills development, and employment equity compliance.

The job:

  • Build and execute HR strategies that fit what the organisation is actually trying to do
  • Run end-to-end recruitment: job ads, shortlisting, interviews, appointments
  • Manage talent pipelines, succession planning, and employee engagement
  • Write and maintain HR policies and procedures
  • Run OD work including job profiling, evaluation, and grading
  • Handle labour relations personally: disciplinaries, grievances, incapacity, poor performance, and CCMA appearances when it comes to that
  • Put performance management systems in place and make them work
  • Lead the EAP and wellness programmes, including psychosocial support
  • Handle skills development compliance: WSPs, ATRs, and employment equity reporting
  • Chair Employment Equity Committee meetings and manage EEA2/EEA4 submissions
  • Oversee payroll admin, leave management, and budget tracking

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of HR experience, with 3 of those in a management role
  • Working knowledge of SA labour law: LRA, BCEA, EEA
  • Experience on an HR system, SAGE 300 or similar
  • Comfortable in MS Office across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Projects

Before you apply:

  • All candidates go through background checks. That covers criminal records, credit checks, security clearances, qualification verification, citizenship, and competency assessments. Given what NRWDI does, none of that should be a surprise.
  • Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. If you haven’t heard anything within 4 weeks of the closing date, your application was unsuccessful.
  • NRWDI is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from people with disabilities.
