Gauteng Department of Education: Examinations Assistants / Quality Assurers

The Provincial Government of Gauteng (Department of Education) invite application for Examinations Assistants and Quality Assurers.

Examinations Assistants

Responsibilities:

You will work at Exams District & Head Offices.

  • Every day receive, check, control, scan and pack scripts for marking, and also do indexed archival of scripts after marking.
  • Make sure correct number of scripts and marksheets per batch, subject, paper and examination session is receive, control, scan and pack for correct marking venue.
  • If there is any problem with number of scripts or marksheets, you must fix it per batch, subject, paper and examination session.
  • Make sure each bag of scripts have two copies of MP Flow control list of contents, and bag must have correct marking venue colour coded label.
  • Create marking centre file for all scripts that will go to each marking venue.
  • Help with sending scripts to the marking venues.
  • Receive, control and archive marked scripts at Head Office so people can find them easy when needed.

Quality Assurers

Responsibilities:

You will work at Marking Centres.

  • Receive, control and give scripts to marking teams.
  • Make sure correct number of scripts and marksheet per batch during marking.
  • Help with control, distribution and scanning of scripts.
  • Check that all questions is marked, marks is add correctly and transfer correctly to the front cover of the script.
  • Make sure the total on each script is correct and transfer correctly to the marksheet.
  • If there is any mistake, marking teams must fix it on both the script and marksheet.
  • After marking, arrange scripts per subject, paper, and number them for indexed archival.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate Vocational.
  • Only registered students at tertiary institutions, unemployed people with one or more tertiary qualification, and unemployed graduates can apply.
  • You must have good numerical skills. Mathematics or Accounting must be one of your subjects.
  • Second year and above tertiary students will get advantage.
  • The work have tight deadline, so you must be able to work under pressure.

Please write if you have previous experience as Examination Assistant (Marking Centre or Office based).

Important Notes:

People who is writing National Senior Certificate / Senior Certificate and AET Examinations in 2026, people who take VSP, and people who already work somewhere else may NOT apply and will not be considered.
