About the Job

General Worker is responsible for keeping work area clean, hygienic, and safe across sugar cane logistics environment — this include harvesting zone, loading area, workshop, machine yard, office, ablution, and store. Job make sure work area stay free from rubbish, cane leftover, mud, spill, and anything that can cause danger to worker, vehicle, and heavy equipment like cane loader, tractor, haulage truck, and mechanical harvester.

This role is important for keeping operations running smooth — by keeping high-traffic area and heavy equipment zone clean, improving visibility, reducing slip and trip hazard, preventing equipment blockage, and making sure health, safety, and operational standard are followed.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

• Grade 10 — 12 preferred
• Basic Cleaning or Safety Training is advantage (e.g. PPE use, chemical handling)
• 1 — 2 year experience doing cleaning in industrial, agricultural, or logistics environment
• Experience working near heavy equipment or in high-traffic area is beneficial
• Must know cleaning chemical, industrial waste handling, and operational housekeeping procedure

Technical Skills:

• Must be able use cleaning tool and light cleaning equipment (vacuum, pressure washer, mop system)
• Must understand safety practice when working around heavy machinery
• Must know how to clean spill and handle waste safely
• Must be able identify hazard and keep work area clean and safe

Behavioural Competencies:

• Must be alert and safety-aware at all time
• Must be reliable, disciplined, and able to work alone
• Must have strong attention to detail and take pride in keeping area clean
• Must have good communication and teamwork skill
• Must be physically fit and able to do manual, repetitive task

Working Conditions:

• Work done in outdoor and indoor operational area — field, workshop, loading zone, office
• Exposure to dust, mud, cane debris, noise, and different weather condition
• Often work near moving truck, tractor, loader, and harvester
• Must wear PPE at all time — safety boot, glove, reflective vest, etc.
• May need to bend, lift, stand long time, and walk on uneven ground
• Working hours may include shift, weekend, public holiday, and peak harvest period

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning and Housekeeping:

• Do routine and deep cleaning of operational area — loading zone, workshop, office, and ablution facility
• Remove cane leftover, mud, leaf, dust, oil spill, and other rubbish from high-traffic and heavy equipment zone
• Clean workshop floor, tool, bench, waste area, and storage section to keep order and safety
• Make sure walkway, platform, and access point to heavy machinery stay clean and clear
• Keep area around fuel station, wash bay, parking area, and storage yard clean

Waste Management:

• Collect and throw away waste according to site waste-separation rule — organic waste, scrap metal, general waste
• Empty bin, replace liner, and make sure waste area don’t overflow or get contaminated
• Move waste to correct disposal point using trolley, bin, or site-approved method
• Help maintain recycling area and make sure oil-contaminated material get disposed correct

Safety, Compliance and Hazard Control:

• Follow all company safety policy, housekeeping standard, and PPE requirement
• Keep floor, ramp, and pathway dry and free from dangerous substance
• Identify and report safety hazard — like spill, broken glass, damaged floor, or unsafe storage
• Put up warning sign (“Wet Floor”, “Cleaning in Progress”) in operational area when needed
• Make sure cleaning chemical used correct and stored safe

Communication and Coordination:

• Talk with Supervisor to identify cleaning priority, especially in high-risk area
• Coordinate with workshop technician, truck driver, and loader operator to clean around machine safe
• Tell Supervisor when cleaning material is running low or cleaning equipment need maintenance
• Take part in daily briefing to stay updated on operational shift, high-traffic time, and hazard alert

Equipment and Material Maintenance:

• Use cleaning tool correct — broom, pressure washer, mop, vacuum, industrial brush
• Keep cleaning equipment in good working condition and report fault straight away
• Handle cleaning chemical with care and use according to safety data sheet
• Keep cleaning storage area organised, labelled, and locked when necessary

Documentation and Reporting:

• Record completed cleaning task in daily checklist or housekeeping log
• Report any spill, hazard, or incident to Supervisor without delay
• Help with compliance audit by making sure cleaning record and area inspection stay up to date
