Programme Overview
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is running an EPWP Youth Employment Programme aimed at unemployed young people who want actual work experience, not just a certificate. Participants get placed on real projects, working alongside professionals in a live government environment. The work contributes to local communities while giving candidates a credible track record to take into their next role.
Requirements
- A three-year bachelor’s degree or national diploma in a relevant field. Equivalent qualifications may also be considered.
- Zero to two years of experience in the relevant area is preferred.
- Basic familiarity with data management and reporting.
- Some understanding of how EPWP operates across municipal, provincial, and national levels of government, including how decisions move between those tiers.
- Ability to plan and coordinate tasks, manage stakeholder relationships, and run meetings. Comfort with public sector workflows helps.
- Clear written and verbal communication. The ability to listen carefully and respond without rushing matters more than most job ads admit.
- Solid computer literacy across Microsoft Office applications. Practical experience counts more than theoretical knowledge here.
- Reliable attendance, composure under pressure, and willingness to travel on short notice when required.
