IDC External Bursary Scheme 2027

Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) invite student to apply for their External Bursary for 2027 academic year. Bursary is open to unemployed South African citizen who have financial need. You must be studying or planning to study full-time in one of the field listed below.

What Bursary Cover

  • Full tuition fees
  • University accommodation or accredited off-campus accommodation
  • Laptop (once-off)
  • Meal allowance
  • Transport allowance

Who Can Apply

Before you apply, make sure you meet all this requirement:

  • Must be South African citizen
  • Must not be older than 26 years
  • Must be in Grade 12 now, or already finish Grade 12
  • Must be studying or planning to study full-time for first undergraduate qualification, in one of the field listed above — bursary will NOT fund second qualification
  • Postgraduate funding (honours) only available for Law, Accounting (CA), Actuarial Science, and Mathematics & Statistics
  • Must study or plan to study at recognised public university or university of technology — bursary will NOT fund private college
  • If you in Matric, must have minimum 75% APS
  • If you already at university, must have minimum 65% average on most recent result
  • Bursary is for applicant whose parents earn combined household income of up to R350 000 per year
  • If your parents earn between R350 000 and R600 000 per year combined, you can still apply — affordability assessment will be done as part of selection
