About the Bursary

This bursary is for 2027 academic year. You must be studying full-time in 2027 to qualify.

Coronation Exceptional Student Bursary looking for student who want to study commerce degree and have strong track record. If you aim high and willing to put in hard work, you could earn place on our high performance team. Programme want to give full support to well-rounded person from disadvantaged background. In return, you must work back for Coronation after you finish your degree.

Final detail of what bursary will cover will only be confirmed when successful applicant receive their final bursary award letter, signed by sponsor.

Important Conditions

  • Bursary renew every year, based on academic performance, student engagement, and sponsor budget. You will not get full study period funding in year one.
  • Work-back OBLIGATION: For every year Coronation fund you, you must work back for them after you finish — if they offer you job. If you don’t, you may have to pay back all bursary benefit received, plus interest at prime rate.
  • If it come out later that you not studying full-time, or you have paid job you didn’t disclose, your bursary can be cancelled and you must pay back all benefit. Same apply if you give wrong information on application, during interview, or after bursary is awarded.
  • Bursary will only be awarded according to company’s Employment Equity plan.

Who Can Apply

Applicant must be well-rounded and show good character, leadership potential, and willingness to give back. Preference go to previously disadvantaged student.

You must meet this criteria:

  • Must be South African citizen
  • Must be studying any undergraduate commerce-related degree
  • 2026 Matric student can apply, also student on gap-year after Matric in 2025
  • Must be registered for full-time study at any DHET/CHE registered institution in 2026
  • Must be studying for NQF-7 qualification: Bachelor’s Degree or Honours

This bursary is NOT open to:

  • N4/5/6, Higher Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Masters, or Doctoral student
  • Student at TVET, Community College, Private College, Graduate/Business School, International university, or distance-learning institution like UNISA

Academic Performance Required:

  • Grade 12: Bachelor’s Pass with minimum average 75% or above, including Mathematics — not Maths Literacy
  • Tertiary level: Minimum average 70% or above for latest full academic year (2025 and 2026 so far)

Preferred Fields of Study (first, second, or third year):

  • Data Analysis / IT Stream Degrees
  • Commerce Stream Degrees
  • Finance Stream Degrees
  • Computer Science Stream Degrees
  • Software / Computer Engineering Stream Degrees

If you don’t hear back within 3 months after closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.

Successful applicant must sign agreement provided by sponsor. Terms and conditions apply.
