Purpose of Job

Chemical Plant Operator operate process equipment, system, and process for specific plant/unit inside Sasol environment, to reach production requirement in safe manner.

Key Accountabilities

  • Give adequate feedback to supervisor about work progress.
  • Take part in risk assessment according to law and company requirement, to improve safety.
  • Keep good housekeeping and follow waste disposal procedure.
  • Work independent.
  • Understand the business, its driver, and KPIs.
  • Apply and maintain safety in work environment.
  • Take part in shift handover meeting.
  • Identify own training and development need, and include in PDP with group leader approval.
  • Do on-the-job coaching of learner SME.
  • Do presentation on specific plant equipment.
  • Conduct IMS inspection to maintain and improve plant sustainability.
  • Work effective in team.
  • Play correct main role during emergency situation to get plant back online.
  • Give and receive feedback to other discipline about daily issues.
  • Give input at toolbox talk to improve plant safety.

Formal Education

Grade 12 or N3 with English, Maths, and Science as subject.

Work Experience

  • 2+ year experience as Learner Artisan
  • Related plant operational experience
